Did Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have a secret Christmas wedding? The engaged duo did sport some interesting bling on their ring fingers in twitpics posted Tuesday. But even though they’re both wearing the seemingly new jewelry on the ring finger of the left hand, these rings don’t really look like wedding bands. And since neither the bride-to-be, 20, nor her future hubby, 22, made a fuss over their rings, we’re not going to get too worked up that Miley girl could have somehow forgotten to invite us to her wedding. (Miley and Liam’s reps did not immediately respond to E! News’ requests for comment.) We are, however, pretty excited about the former Hannah Montana star’s newly released cover of her godmother Dolly Parton’s song “Jolene.” In a YouTube clip posted Monday, Miley (with her topknot, RIP) does a beautiful rendition of the country queen’s 1973 hit. Way to make Dolly proud! Source: EOnline.com |

Back before Miley Cyrus chopped off all of her hair, she recorded a video for Dolly Parton’s popular song, “Jolene.” Lucky for you, she just released the vid for all of us to peep! Recorded during her “Backyard Sessions,” the vid really showcases Miley’s vocals and proves the girl can sing and is super talented! And we have to admit, we kind of miss Miley’s old hair! She looks so cute and pretty here! Source: Cambio.com |

She may have famously spoken out against country music way back in 2010–calling it “contrived on many levels”–but that doesn’t mean Miley Cyrus can’t sing the heck out of a country tune. The godchild of Dolly Parton and daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus proves this with her latest YouTube upload, a stunning cover of Parton’s classic “Jolene” that’s already racked up more than 80,000 views in a little more than 24 hours. Those who only know Cyrus for her pop music, acting, wedding plans–oh, and that wild haircut!–will no doubt be surprised at the rich depth and warmth the 20-year-old brings to the 1974 hit, an enduringly haunting plea from one woman to another to stay away from her man. Cyrus chose to cover the song as part of her “Backyard Sessions” series for her official site, a little project she started over the summer when she brought her band together to perform a few of her favorite tunes. The three-video collection also includes such unusual choices as James Shelton’s 1950s tune “Lilac Wine” (which was covered by, amongst others, the late Jeff Buckley in 1994) and “Look What They’ve Done To My Song” by ’70s folk artist Melanie Safka. Cyrus performed “Jolene” as a sparkling live duet with Parton for the 25th anniversary of Dollywood in 2010. Source: Yahoo.com |

Ah, Miley Cyrus. Our love for you grows and grows. Just like your hair would, if you didn’t keep chopping it off. And incidentally, it’s a surprise to see Cyrus rocking her old hair (that bun will always remind us of summer ’12!) in the latest Backyard Sessions video, which sees the chanteuse and a crew of her friends hanging out in her backyard performing lovely, dusky covers of Cyrus’ favorite songs. The final performance is the oft-covered “Jolene,” as made famous by Dolly Parton, and — as per usual — Cyrus demolishes it, her raspy vocals anguished and urgent. The clip is so effective that the critics over at Spin even asked by way of their headline, “Is Miley Cyrus’ ‘Jolene’ Cover Better Than Jack White’s?” Our answer: Yup. Watch up top. Former Disney star Miley Cyrus seems happy to be stepping out of her “child star” comfort zone recently with a string of mature cover songs. We heard from her a while back when she covered Bob Dylan’s “You’re Gonna Make Me Lonesome” and now she’s back with her cover of the 1950 James Shelton classic “Lilac Wine.” The video is the first in a series of many “Backyard Session” videos that Cyrus and her band will be uploading on her new re-vamped website. While it may take her a little while to win the cynics over, she’s off to a great start with her hypnotizing “Lilac Wine” rendition. It strays away from previous instrument heavy covers, from artists like Jeff Buckley and Elkie Brooks, and instead highlights the songs poetic lyrics and Cyrus’ consistent and powerful voice. Cyrus is working hard to show how much she has matured, and this cover proves just how far the star has come from her “Party in the U.S.A” days. It’s relaxed, it’s honest and most importantly it’s going to blow doubters out of the water. Source: CoverMeSongs.com |

For months we have heard reports that Miley Cyrus was working on new music and was even spotted filming a music video earlier this year, which never came to much before. Well, Miley has officially confirmed that her musical return is around the door and released a cover of a 50s song“Lilac Wine”. She filmed a backyard session video where she sang the song. The retro sound could be a hint that former rocker has switch genres for her upcoming album, hence her more Adele style of songs. So far her new song has received love from the critics while fans are still trying to find their new opinions on Miley’s new sound. You can watch the video of her rendition of “Lilac Wine” down below. As for her recent tweets about her music, here is what she told MTV for their review and a hint at a new single soon.
It sounds like Miley Cyrus does have some serious plans to make her comeback musically. As for her new sound, I think it is normal since she likely wants to repair her image and maybe show a more mature side? My only main concern is how her core fan base will react to the sudden change in her music. Neither Miley nor Billy Ray Cyrus have ever hinted at a possible genre change, so this comes as huge news. While I certainly think she proves that she has a good voice and solid talent, but most likely her fans are not sure what to think about the sudden change in her sound. However, given in time, they will likely start loving the new sound once it grows on them. How do you like her new sound? Does Miley do the song justice or do you miss the old Miley? I like her new sounds, it reminds me Adele and I think she could easily top off her career with this new path. We have seen how good Adele has done, so why not Miley? She took a song that had no room for any computer based sounds or auto tune, which I think will play into her strengths and remind the world of what a powerhouse of a singer that she really is. If I was some of the retro based singers right now, I would be nervous about Miley coming out with new music. Source: BSCKids.com |

TWEEN sensation Miley Cyrus is growing up fast, as she showed her Adelaide fans at the Entertainment Centre last night. The 18-year-old was a commanding rock star with undeniable stage presence. Relying on nothing more than her voice and a powerful band, this was no fairy-tale pantomime. Cyrus threw out the hits as fast as the young female audience could handle them. Party in the USA came on early with shrieking screams from the sell-out crowd before the former Disney starlet hit memory lane, referencing some of the female music icons who have influenced her. A Joan Jett medley of I Love Rock and Roll, Cherry Bomb and Bad Reputation had mums and dads singing along while Robot and the rocking Kicking and Screaming sent glow sticks up in the air. |
