19-year-old actress Miley Cyrus is currently prepping for the DVD release of her latest movie LOL in the UK, where she branches out as a rebellious teenager named Lola.

The movie, also starring Ashley Greene and Douglas Booth will be released on October 15th for fans to enjoy at home.

In a recent interview, Miley admitted to Sugarscape that she hopes the movie will let fans see her in a more mature light.

“I hope they see all of us in a new light,” Miley explained. “I hope they see me as someone who is maturing, not stepping away from my younger fans but maturing, and picking roles that I can really relate to.”

“I’m so excited to see Douglas come out as an American actor. I think he’s done so many amazing things for the BBC. One of my favourite movies is ‘Worried about the Boy’ about Boy George. He’s the lead and it’s unbelievable, so so happy to see him succeed. ” She continued, “I came from a franchise Hannah Montana and Ashley Greene came from Twilight so I’m happy for people to see her in a totally new way and she couldn’t be more opposite.”

Miley also chatted about her admiration for Demi Moore, who plays her mother in the movie. The star admitted, “without her I wouldn’t be on the set, without her I wouldn’t be who I am sitting here, I wouldn’t know a lot about myself. Demi is the main reason why I got involved.”

“This movie was kind of an indie film that was being talked about and I heard about it every now and then and Demi was like ‘This is something I want to do with Miley.’ I want to be a part of her life. I got to meet a lot of great people. I just want to thank Demi for taking that first step, really taking the initiative and saying let’s really put this together, let’s make this movie”

Miley Cyrus’s new film LOL is released on DVD in the UK next week (October 15th), and sees Miley star alongside Twilight’s Ashley Greene and Douglas FIT Booth, in a story about a girl struggling to find the right balance between friendhips, love, family and school.

Miley’s excited about us getting to see all three of the lead stars in a different way;

“I hope they see all of us in a new light,” she admitted.

“I hope they see me as someone who is maturing, not stepping away from my younger fans but maturing, and picking roles that I can really relate to.

“I’m so excited to see Douglas come out as an American actor. I think he’s done so many amazing things for the BBC. One of my favourite movies is ‘Worried about the Boy’ about Boy George. He’s the lead and it’s unbelievable, so so happy to see him succeed.

“I came from a franchise Hannah Montana and Ashley Greene came from Twilight so I’m happy for people to see her in a totally new way and she couldn’t be more opposite.”

She went on to say that she might not have even done the film in the first place if it wasn’t for Demi Moore’s involvement, revealing that “without her I wouldn’t be on the set, without her I wouldn’t be who I am sitting here, I wouldn’t know a lot about myself.”

“Demi is the main reason why I got involved,” said Miley.

“This movie was kind of an indie film that was being talked about and I heard about it every now and then and Demi was like ‘This is something I want to do with Miley.’ I want to be a part of her life.

“I got to meet a lot of great people. I just want to thank Demi for taking that first step, really taking the initiative and saying let’s really put this together, let’s make this movie.”

After a very limited release in the United States in May and United Kingdom in June, with limited releases in a couple of other countries around the world also – LOL is finally out on DVD and blu ray (July 31st)! So far the DVD is only available for US fans, with the UK release on 15th October.

In a world connected by YouTube, iTunes, and Facebook, Lola and her friends navigate the peer pressures of high school romance and friendship while dodging their sometimes overbearing and confused parents. When Lola’s mom, Anne, “accidentally” reads her teenage daughter’s racy journal, she realizes just how wide their communication gap has grown. Through hilarious and heartfelt moments between mother and daughter, LOL is a fresh coming-of-age story for modern times.

So far these are the places that we’ve found where you can order LOL.

That was quick! After a short and highly limited theatrical run, Miley Cyrus‘ latest movie, ‘LOL,’ will be released on DVD next month.

‘LOL,’ which costars Demi Moore, features Cyrus as a teen going through some issues with sex, drugs, drinking and generally growing up. It’s her edgiest film role yet to date.

Unfortunately, it was also her least lucrative. Only released in 105 theaters, ‘LOL’ was considered a box office bomb. It’s speculated that heavy spending and promo for ‘The Hunger Games’ (which starred Cyrus’ boyfriend, Liam Hemsworth) was behind the studio’s decision not to heavily promote the film, so it’s a bit unfair to chalk it up only to Cyrus’ allegedly fading star power (after all, we are writing about her right now). The limited release likely also limited fans’ ability to get to see the film at all.

To add insult to injury, Lionsgate released the movie on May 4, competing with record-shattering juggernaut ‘The Avengers’ on its opening weekend, effectively dooming the movie to be D.O.A.

Hollywood Life reports that ‘LOL’ will be available on July 31 on DVD and Blu-Ray, complete with special features including audio commentary and behind-the-scenes featurettes.

In what may be brighter news for the starlet’s acting career, Cyrus’ next movie, ‘So Undercover,’ his screens on June 27. The Daily Mail reports that Cyrus learned a bit of hand-to-hand combat for the role, in which she plays an FBI agent. “I’ve been doing fighting, like learning how to box,” she said. “I have a trainer and I have bruises everywhere from, like, kicking the bags … and I’ve learned how to use guns, which was really scary.”

Miley Cyrus got the shaft. So did Demi Moore, Ashley Greene Golden Globe nominated actor Thomas Jane and Hollywood legend Marlo Thomas. Lions Gate Entertainment Corp left them all twisting in the wind.

The film studio pulled the rug out from under their movie, “LOL: Laughing Out Loud,” to focus on block busters.

While the actors, crew and director Lisa Azuelos-Alessandrin, were all hurt by the studio, Miley is bearing the brunt of this fiasco because the picture was a starring vehicle for her.

But it never got the support required to launch a successfulmovie. Lionsgate did virtually no marketing. Not surprising since it was struggling itself, and on the verge of a hostile takeover by corporate raider Carl Ichan. It’s a shame because LOL may not be an Academy Award contender, but it’s certainly on par with any of the rom-coms Jennifer Aniston has cranked out. The French version, also directed by Azuelos, was a smash hit.

It acquired the U.S. distribution rights from Mandate Pictures in Oct. 2010, while it was under Ichan’s assault. Mandate was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lionsgate, operating as an independent brand. LOL marked the first collaboration between the two, according to Variety.

Ichan dropped his bid in late 2010 and last January, Lions Gate acquiredSummit Entertainment , home of the “Twilight” franchise, in sort of a reverse merger. Since then, it’s shifted its focus to big blockbuster films.

Its signal success since the merger has been “The Hunger Games,” the first of four movies based on Suzanne Collins’ best-selling novels.

Against the riptide from that film, LOL was swept out to sea. The film was released in just 105 theaters last weekend, and went up against the biggest film of the year, “The Avengers.” Needless to say, it never had a chance. It gross just $46,500 over the weekend.

Which is not surprising since marketing for “LOL” was dumped on the studio’s home entertainment division. Without the muscle of its theatrical marketing arm, it was doomed from the start.

In fact, the film would have gone straight to DVD, if not for a contract provision requiring a US release to support the film’s overseas distribution, according to deadline.com.

That poor theatrical showing led critics like Variety’s Joe Leydon to pronounce Miley’s career all but over.

“That Lionsgate gave this star vehicle such a half-hearted theatrical dump May 4, speaks volumes about the dimmed wattage of toplined Miley Cyrus, whose charisma-free performance may, in turn, serve as a cautionary example for teen pop phenoms seeking to break out into ‘mature’ screenroles,” he wrote.

And what would that example be? Watch who you do business with?

Say what you will about Miley’s off-screen antics, she’s a proven winner as an actress. She’s also not the first actor to get stabbed in the back by a studio.

The LOL fiasco says nothing about her acting ability or star power. Hopefully it won’t dim her prospects down the road.

Miley Cyrus is probably not laughing out loud about this.

Her latest flick LOL has completely TANKED with both the critics AND audiences. The coming-of-age film, which also stars Demi Moore, only made $46,500 within 105 theaters at the box office this past weekend. That figure is $600 LESS than what The Avengers made in each theater it played at!

IMDb users have given the film a 1.7/10 rating and to top it off, LOLwasn’t even screened for critics. That usually only means one thing — it’s bad. Like, really bad.

However, Miley don’t care and takes comfort in knowing that she made a movie that she wanted to make. Just yesterday she tweeted:

Thank u so much for everyone who went to see LOL. It is a film I loved making and I am proud of…. That’s really all that matters to me. ❤

Good! The movie business is unpredictable and all of your loyal fan base was more than a little distracted by Marvel’s latest blockbuster.

We haven’t seen the movie, but even if it isn’t that great, everything will be okay! Every great actress has some stinkers lingering on their resume, right?

Miley’s next stab at box office glory is coming out on June 27 when she plays an undercover FBI agent investigating a college sorority in So Undercover.

Her only competition will be BraveAbraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,G.I. Joe: Retalliation, and Magic Mike so…uhh…maybe they should push that release date back. LOL!
